Koshur's have never been known to be high steppe. Gagentic pops from haryana to west UP has one of the highest steppe individuals.

Well itís because Kashmiris are much higher Caucasian than steppe. Kashmiris have higher Caucasian than steppe and some level of NE Asian.

Not exactly. Kashmiri Pandits and related groups (converted), yes. But over the years we've seen results of various non pandit related muslims from kashmir that didn't have such genetic profile.

True. Most of the Kashmiri results I’ve seen have been higher Caucasian and lower NE Euro + NE Asian but I’m sure there are different ones because of more recent foreign admixture. But since he was specifically referring to pandits I thought I’d point out we are BMAC heavy and NE Euro hovers around ~7-9% on Harappa.

What kind of people are you speaking of?

Among the Kashmiri Muslims, who are NOT of KP descent, there are the Shahmiris, Syeds, and some local boatmen types. I used to think Lones were also a Non-KP folk, however a friend, who is one himself just told me that his paternal sides were also Pandits, originally from Rainawari and later moved to Handwara, near Baramula. His Mother's family are Afridis, whom they refer to as Ghazis in Kashmir.
Then there are Syeds and their many companions and followers, Shah Hamadani for instance, and of Abdul Qadir Jillani who may not have set foot in the valley but nonetheless there are scores of people who claim to have descended from his scholars, who came to the vale from Iran and even Iraq. They are among the most powerful of the Kashmiri families and marry the Butts(converted KPs)
And then there are Kashmiri Mughals.
Their mingling has basically meant that there is a general commonality among valley Kashmiris, unless there are any recent incursions, who would look outliers to the Kashmiris, but not hugely different.

Kashmiri muslims that converted from Kaamis or dalits. Someone posted result of a Kashmiri Teli that had around 36-37 SI and higher east asian. Unless Kashmir never had any other communities aside from Pandits, it'd be ignorant to assume every kashmiri scores like pandits.

There are a lot of Kashmiris who have been marrying with UP Muslims, I know of several such examples, including the famous Poet-Scholar, Dr(Late) Akbar Ali Hyderi(Lucknow link) and the bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, whose mother is Kashmiri.

The interesting thing is almost all Kashmiris, who are NOT of Syed(generally all Islamic-period migrants) or Pashtun lineages claim to be Pandits, apart from a handful of boatmen, some of whom use Dar(Dhar???). Its full of its own kind of complexities.

Addendum: The case of Shias is interesting, some might even marrying with the Kargilspas.

So these kashmiris are going to be same as pandits due to mixing?

    https://kashmirunheard.org/2018/02/0...on-in-kashmir/

Or have they been mixing with UP muslims?
