I can’t speak to mixing with UP Muslims and so forth, but it seems like maybe that community in the link you sent are part of the Valmikis who were sweepers brought in from other states during dogra rule. They were sadly not afforded many rights under Article 370. Kashmiri lore is that there weren’t any Dalits or shudras native to Kashmir but idk how correct that is. Though it’s also said not everyone was a pandit so there seems to have been a caste similar to Kshatriyas or vaishya in Kashmir perhaps accounting for that teli sample you were speaking of (a merchant type caste).

So who performed all the dalit/occupational duties? I'd like to read more onto it. Because it'd be very bizzare for absence of any occupational/dalit community native to Kashmir. The Teli scored like a kashmiri, just not like a pandit.

Teli aren't merchants, they oil press. So close to dalits. In Punjab we call them Malik.

It does seem there is a caste system among Kashmiri based on this article,

    https://thewire.in/caste/caste-away-...-works-kashmir

In his book, which is perhaps the only academic reference point for caste in Kashmir, Dabla attempts to explain the complex nature of caste in Kashmir. He has classified Kashmiri castes into three different groups. At the top are the ‘Syed castes’ – Geelani, Jeelani, Andrabi, Qadri, Hamdani, Bhukhari, Shah and others. Syeds claim to be the descendants of the family of the prophet. It is believed that Syeds came into Kashmir from Central Asia in the early 14th century and spread Islam in the region. Consequently, they have a somewhat proprietary attitude towards Islam in Kashmir.

This group is followed by the ‘occupational castes’ which include surnames like Wani, Zargar, Bhat, Naqash, Lone, Khandey, Ahangar and others. While Syed castes are a representative of the different tribes they belong to, this is not the same with occupational castes. These surnames denote only the occupations they or their ancestors had taken up. For instance, Zargar means goldsmith in Kashmiri and the bearer of this caste name would be someone who is either currently in this occupation or has descended from a family of goldsmiths.

At the bottom of Dabla’s caste hierarchy are the ‘service castes’ with names like Hanjis (people living in houseboats), Waza, Gilkar, Sofi, Dobi, Ganie, Bangi, or Sheikh. These are generally landless people, or those whose occupations are considered menial. Sheikh is an interesting caste here. If this title is used as a prefix it indicates the person has descended from Brahmin landlords like the National Conference party leader Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. If, however, Sheikh is used as a surname, this indicates belonging to the sweeper community.

Yeah, these are those handful of other groups, a very nominal percentage of the population, that I spoke of. However one cannot discount migrations. And these might have come from the South, some during the Dogra period, accompanying other migrants who were employed by the Dogra administration. There are accounts of people from as far as the Southern India, Karnataka and Tamilnadu employed by the state administration, and with them some others would have moved there as well and mixed with other Kashmiri communities.
And the article itself says that the Shaikh community is woefully deprived and poor and only recently was it that a woman was able to go and study in Jammu. It pretty much means that whoever had himself or herself tested, whose results you found 37 to 38% wouldn't be so economically deprived. Perhaps a state-funded testing would reveal their autosomal make-up and they may turn out to be just like most Kashmiris or mixed with outsiders, but their numbers are far and few between anyhow, and that woould indicating a distinct ethnogenesis.

In addition, there are a lot of Punjabis in the valley, who settled during the Dogra rule.
