Why does Q always have to be extinct.
Either clade seems to be very exotic, I hope someone will analyze the BAMs.

There seems to be confusion with Y-haplogroups yet again. Semargl reports scy197 and scy301 aren't R1b, but E-V13 and I2-Y7219, respectively. I noticed some of the samples had question marks next to haplogroup assignement in supplementary tables, but these two weren't among them.

So before the genotype data is released to play with, anybody have any ideas what happened to these people? Were they totally genetically replaced by the Slavs or were they absorbed?

I have a question from a beginners point of view: how is that these Scythian and Cimmerians are said to be from the steppe when they score so high in the WHG component. I tought the steppe genetic marker was EHG +CHG . Am I missing something? It looks like R1b steppe was born from an eastward movement of WHG? Where is the EHG component?

I think that WHG component is higher because there is no EHG and ANE component. If we say that WHG is connected to EHG than it can be reason for higher WHG. Also, for example, SEA and NEA are higher among Scythians and Sarmatians, (I guess because due of lack EHG and ANE too?). Unlike them, Cimmerians are definitely more connected to East Asian populations.

I have checked cim357... It is strange, but I am sure it is not R1b.

Another stupid Steppe study while the likes of ancient Rome, Sumer, Shulaveri-Shomu, etc. remain completely unsampled. Scythians ruled over a continental landmass most "Scythians" were just local Steppe population under Scythian rule, you're not going to know what ethnic Scythians looked like unless you start sampling royal Scythians.
