    aDNA research at Kickstarter campaign

    Hello!

I found this campaign at Kickstarter: DNA of Greatest Warrior

Do you think that it is a serious one?

Do you think that this campaign generally provides an advantage in the field of aDNA?

What are you personal thoughts on that?

Cool. There is possibility to "adopt" our own Volkervanderung warrior for about 586$ But their goal 11,700 $ looks to small for such scale (testing 1000 warrior skeletons). I'm sceptical mainly about it.

The goal of that $10,000 is just for starting the project right now.
    They write:
The funding has already been secured for the most expensive part of the project: The lab work with extensive DNA analyzing, but we now lack the last 10-20% to get started, or about $250.000. With funding through Kickstarter we can get started right away and not late 2019 or early 2020

Costs of ancient DNA research are coming down very quickly.

In the next three to four years you'll see just about every ancient culture that offers human remains sampled extensively and studied. This is already underway. There will be tens of thousands of samples available freely online in the not too distance future.

So even if these people have good intentions, what they're doing is already behind the times.

I'm all for it if they find some U106 (likely if they are testing Germanic Migration remains etc)... and what the General said above... that is GREAT news! Only a matter of time...
