Why were the Maasai excluded from the 1000 Genomes Project?

Most of the populations from HapMap were included, but why were the Maasai left out? Seems kind of odd. I can't seem to find most Maasai samples on yfull.

I can't speak to samples from the 1000 Genomes Project but those from last year's green sahara paper are on Yfull:

Here's the two A-M13 samples... there was also another E-M78/V32
    .... .. I have spoken."

Yeah, but ALL Luhya were included, but only a few Maasai from Kinyawa? What gives?

Did they leave out the Maasai as they aren't as homogenous as the Luhya? Kinda odd.

By the way, I thought of this as I wanted to know which E-V22 subclade the Maasai have.

They have E-V3262, as do other Nilotes and some Horners, according to the Green Sahara paper. But if you wanted a subclade less than 5000 years old you're out of luck.

Also, a single T1a sample from the Maasai, if there are any, would greatly help elucidate on the Somali T situation.
