    The comments and amount of dislikes in that video are...a tad bit discouraging. He never said it was an Aryan invasion.

    No, all are mixed.

    According to the recent paper on South Asian genetics (Genetic Formation of South Asia),

    ASI = InPe + AASI

    ANI = InPe + Steppe enriched groups

    InPe is supposed to be similar to IVC people.

    Almost all South Asians today are a mixture of ASI and ANI.

    Supposedly, Kalash are pure ANI. And some few South Indian dalit groups, like Pulaya, are pure ASI.

    Both ANI and ASI are outdated now that we have a higher resolution understanding of ANI, so the only phantom element is the AASI part of ASI.

    Using the old terms, Kalash were "pure" ANI, Khatris were 97% ANI, and my group was 93% ANI. But now, using the 3 way categorization, Khalas are sub-10% AASI, Khatris are 15-20% AASI, while my group is a whooping 30%+ AASI(although my group's AASI has to have 7% ATB, which Narasimhan lumped into AASI.

    Basically, we need to stop talking about the simplistic ANI and ASI. Both ANI and ASI had AASI in varying quantities.

    When and if we get the mesolithics from South Asia, and various proper IVC aDNA, we will have a higher resolution view. Until then, it's IVC(Ani+ASI), steppe, and pure AASI. For periphery Himalayan groups, ATB should remain, and varying AA admixtures for inner/eastern Indians.

    Ancient/Ancestral Tibeto Burmans. Basically, highest ATB groups (I know of) in South Asia are Tamangs at 92%. Sherpas are probably the highest, because they have no ANI and no ASI admixtures. According to Cole et al 2017, Sherpas had no geneflow from South Asia.

    I think it stands for "Ancestral Tibeto-Burman."

    3 of the Sherpa samples in this study - Kang et al - had mtdna M3d1a1. There must have been some gene flow from neighbouring hybrid ( South Asian + TB ) populations.
