I went and checked my ancestry matches. In my matches I have people from 3% South Asian all the way to 88%. One family seems to have mixed with Tajik or Central Asian, maybe Tajik Pashtun. Another family is in Greece. I think I might have found my great uncles grand kids from Germany. Another few families are mixed in the Caribbean. Another one mixed in with Hispanics. Found mixed with Anglo, and also found mixed with East European. Also found a lot of Jatt relatives which means some folks married into Jatts.

Baddowal in Gudaspur district also came up in my search but there was no other info I could find on that pind.
Since the other two Baddowal pinds both have Hullait named Jatts, and RixDNA mentioned "mountain area" (some places in Hoshiarpur are referred to as being "Pahari") then I guessed his Hullait side is probably originally from Baddowal in Hoshiarpur district.

    Hi guys,

Firstly: thank you for the condolences, that was very kind.

Things have been quite tough in recent days with many things going on as well, so I am just letting you know that I will be doing a little bit more research and will get back to this at some point, just might be a little while.
I'm not sure I can get much more information any time soon on my late paternal granddad, given the circumstances.

I will add the following for now:
My Y-DNA throws up 4 matches at 12 markers (1 GD) with people from the Scottish surname McCulloch, but given that 12 markers is very low resolution, I think it might be dating back to pre-surname periods of time. (Apparently) the origin of the McCulloch name stems from a Crusader mercenary, so maybe something went on in the Middle East as the Scottish Haplogroup that I have 12 marker matches seems to be from the 13/14th centuries from having researched it on MyHeritage records and the McCulloch surname project on FTDNA.

I know that Y-DNA is very tiny in percentage of overall DNA anyway, right?

    12 Marker Genetic Distance 1
    R-BY32010 Scotland - 1
    R-BY32021 Scotland - 1
    R-YP321 Turkey 1
    R-Z93 Russian Federation - 2

The only other match is at 25 markers with GD of 2 from a surname of Al-Sayed.

Here are my Y results from Nevgen (FTDNA just gave me R-M198 / R1a1). Does having a high percentage of unsupported subclade mean that I have some kind of mutation which isn't yet defined?

    NEVGEN Screenshot 67 Markers Crop.png

Autosomal: I'm also getting GEDmatch and FTDNA FF matches with a Swedish surname of Gustafsson. The FF match was across 6 Chromosomes total 20cM (longest is Chr 16 with 9.19 cM & 1000 SNPs). A possibility from Vanagarian Guards passed on through paternal line, given the links of Y-DNA R-Z93 of Russian Federation results?

Meantime, here is my Harappa results as requested:

Thanks for reading and will be back in a little while.

I have a feeling you and I have same subclade, since Y7 is extremely common in Punjab and my subclade is shared with a Pak Punjabi. It's found in Gulf arab as well. If you're interested I'd recommend buying $89 R1a superclad panel from Yseq. I did same. No need to buy expensive Yfull packages.

I've actually used your Gedmatch ID to find more Tarkhans for our data base lol.

He's already confirmed Z94+. He can just buy the R1a-Z93 panel instead. Saves him $11 and a bit of time.

I agree about Y7 being a big thing in Punjab specifically. Gangetic Plains have loads of R1a-Y6. Y7 seems to have more of a NW distribution.

He shows up on gedmatch as far as 8 gens ago, so that's quite far.

While searching 23&me, a new DNA relative showed up who is Bhogal, and is 2nd to 3rd cousin according to who is also Z93. Most likely Y7 like me.

Just realized I get you as a match on 23&me as well lol. You can PM for my name. We share .10% only so that's quite distant.

I would say that Y6 gets more relevant in eastern India (Nepal, Bengal, gangetic plains) and in South India. In most cases populations with Y7 also carry Y6 so both subclades exist in the same places but as far as i know Y6 is more relevant among Baluch, Brahui, East Indians and South Indians . But like Y7 it is also found among Arabs, Tajiks, Pashtuns ( I belong to Y6 and my paternal line is pashtun) and populations in western China. Y7 was also found among Russian Tatars recently. No idea how it arrived there maybe it is ancient or was brought back by Saka/East Iranics or Turks from Central Asia.
