    Rudolf Hess theory disproved through DNA

    Not sure what to make of this. STR analysis (why not SNPs if you're going to this trouble?) shows the prisoner who died in Spandau was not an imposter but really was the former leading Nazi. No details of probable haplogroup as far as I can see. Link below and BBC story under that.

    EDIT: I guess they wouldn't want the haplogroup to be publicised because extremists might latch onto it. Probably wise, plus it spares any of us innocent punters from knowing we might be related.

    According to his Y-STR results, he was most likely R1a-L1029. Y-STRs are available as a part of supplementary data.
