    Question about Paternal Lineage

So I matched with two people on 23andme who are both O*. One is my third cousin and the other is my fourth cousin. I chatted with the fourth cousin and his father knew my family. He also said that he's distantly related to me through my grandfather.

Onto the question, would this mean that my maternal grandfather was O* as well?

    Thanks in advance.

If your maternal grandfather is on the same y chromosome line as those two cousins, yes, it would.

    Hey searcher,

Welcome back. O2 is not that uncommon with Bengalis given the austro asiatic and tibetoburman influences.

It would have to be a direct paternal line through your mum and the relative so unless that's confirmed, I wouldn't take it as gospel. May simply represent the common ydna profiles in Bengalis.

Having said that, not come across O* without any further downstream markers?

Both matched as O-F8 but as far as that I don't know. Neither are responding to my messages anymore.

Edit: Thanks for the welcome back!
