FTDNA allowing uploads of 23andme v5 data

The FTDNA U106 forum is indicating that 23andme is now allowing V5 results to be uploaded to FTDNA site. Has anybody else heard this or verified it?

I just took a look at the relevant page at FTDNA. They don't seem to have changed it:

"Please note that you can only transfer the following versions from 23andMe©, AncestryDNA™, and MyHeritage™:

    23andMe© V3
    23andMe© V4
    AncestryDNA™ V1
    AncestryDNA™ V2
    MyHeritage™

Unfortunately, at this time, you cannot transfer 23andMe© V1 or 23andMe© V2 results from 23andMe©."

But it's always possible they are taking 23andMe v5 now and simply haven't yet updated this page. You'll note that they don't mention v5 at all, even to say they aren't taking it. To me this suggests they haven't updated this FAQ page in a while, so who knows?

Besides British-German-Catalan, ancestry includes smaller amounts of French, Irish, Swiss, Choctaw & another NA tribe, possibly Catawba. Avatar picture is: my father, his father, & his father's father; baby is my eldest brother.

I will also say that if they are taking 23andMe v5 files -- or as soon as they do -- I'd expect to see an influx of new matches. Well, after a bit of processing time. Hasn't happened yet, as far as I can tell.

So I just went over to the Family Tree DNA Forum.

    Here's what I found:

    "23andmeV5 test Now Accepted

    FamilyTreeDNA Release Note

The Products page has been revamped with a new design.
Autosomal Transfers – New File Versions Accepted
We now accept the following new file versions for Autosomal Transfers:
    • Ancestry DNATM V2.2
    • 23andMe© V5"

As you can see, this is dated a little over a month ago.

Now here's the bad news. There are a couple of follow up posts that contradict the above, and they're both dated February 25th.

One problem, of course is the low number of SNPs that are the same for both 23andMe v5 and FTDNA -- only around 160,000. They aren't really compatible. But then again, 23andMe v5 actually isn't entirely compatible even with other 23andMe chips ....

There are reports that as of yesterday that uploads are working. I don't have any way to verify that it is or not.

That's good news. You'd think they might want to update the FAQs on their order page. (Although maybe I just need to clear my cache.)

I'd upload my 23andme v5 but the results I got for my Ancestry data were hilariously wrong and I'm not willing to pay another £19.

    How much does it cost?
I did not think that FTDNA gave good results for my father or mother.
