I'm having a bit of difficulty picking my own color, something between 1 and 2 but, depending on conditions, sometimes even lighter than that.

My father is about 18, my mother a 4.

My wife somewhere between 13 and 14, the kids are closest to 2's.

I would say my eyes have changed over the years. In the days of my youth I would say I was #7. Now, it is more like #11.

    That's pretty good Trevern.
I saw they improved the Gedmatch prediction, I always got light grey eyes, but I did it again and....it improves!

    and real:

DNA Land gives my position in graphic, brown but almost kind of in the middle between brown and blue.....

(Light or medium) Brown eyes and blond hair is a kind of family feature my grandfather had it, father and I!

What creates the distance to my real color?

What is my be insightful is this, this are pictures of eyes, with % blue, intermediate and brown.

I choose one that comes IMO close to my eyes, and comes also close to the DNA land prediction:

    55% brown, 31% blue and 14% intermediate.

I think that my very low rate of melanin facilitates the prediction (pale skin, blond hair when I was young: all the punishment ...) now I do protect myself from the very very scorching sun of Brittany (not really Australia but...)

Yes we like to go to your homeland (mostly a bit more southern then Brittany).... almost obliged with a woman born in Lille As kid I had white kind of hair...
When I take my family in account we are kind of mixture between light features/blond with some darkish/brown (my grandma was very high blond with very light greyblue eyes, my mom is kind of darkish, as kid she was dark auburn and so fort). I guess in my region about 80% is light featured. On vacation this means kind of luck for me no need to keep much in the shadow
