That could bring the validity of these samples into question if they are not even on your list IMO
Paper trail ancestry to the best of my knowledge:
English (possibly containing some Welsh ancestry) 31.25%, Scottish 17.96%, Scotch-Irish 12.5%, Eastern German 12.5%, Eastern European (Likely Polish possibly including Romanian) 12.5%, French 7.81%, Native American (Saulteaux and Assiniboine) 2.34%, and Colonial American, 3.125%, which cannot be traced with certainty. With certainty, there is Dutch (at least 1.36%) and some English.

I have to agree. Very odd that I have all sorts of matches to various Lombards, Vikings, ancient Bell Beakers etc but not medieval people from Roscommon. I would love to have a closer look at these samples but because they aren't in my Top 100 I'm unable to.

    I am puzzled.

Other posters on various sites have Etruscan/Civitavecchia or Latin/Ardea based on the newly published Moots/Antonio paper but I have no matches from the paper in my top 60!

MyTrueAncestry has me down as Central Roman+Illyrian so I should have some matches, surely.

I contacted MyTrueAncestry and they say dozens of samples from the paper are coming out in the coming weeks.
The raw data from the Antonio/Moots paper only came out yesterday and they have only had time to process a few samples.

I would tend to agree with both of you . I supposedly have about 19% Irish on my mother's side, but only get the medieval samples at quite a low ranking with LDNA and Ancestry converted to 23 v5 uploads. You, Jessie, have much more Irish than me, and don't have those samples .

Also for me my top matches are strongly British, but with deep dive ,using FTDNA upload, half or more of those have Viking in the title .

I asked MTA about the Kilteasheen samples and this is what they have said.

The 3 samples we added are from a graveyard with bodies dating 600 to 1300 AD and have a closest link to modern Irish - but with some distance. They seem much closer to ancient samples which makes one suspect modern Irish have changed since. This could be due to Viking invasions or some other migrations. These samples were pulled as part of a control experiment of people over many centuries from the same graveyard making it tricky to pinpoint an exact date or background. There have been numerous digs in this area but they have focused on say black death victims. Hope this helps!

I have to say they have excellent customer service. They are very helpful.

It is interesting that they say that migrations might have changed the modern Irish. I have heard from another source there is evidence of admixture in the Irish in the later medieval period. Very interesting and intriguing.

Had my third kit uploaded, from FTDNA, and received a small horde of Deep Dive results. I certainly can't fault MTA for laziness...They seem to come out with new features every couple of weeks.

Edit: Re-uploaded original data from 23andMe. All of a sudden I've got Deep Dive connections coming out of the woodwork.

Just a wee general question about your wife's Ancestry - is she from southern Scotland/English borders? Her results are similar to my brother's and mine, but I've noticed on Ancestry that my Aberdeenshire (NE Scotland) relatives tend to have Sweden in the mix whereas my borders ones have more Denmark. Will that be the Danelaw effect do you think?
