I would have thought that I'd have become more patient by now but I feel like I'm getting less patient. I really want some idea about how these peoples may have varied. It kills me that we have those Orcadian - likely Pictish - samples from the Viking paper as well as that single Irish one and we don't have access to them in a comparative format like G25. Picts and Gaels have so much mystery and romance attached to them that we'll be going in circles talking about them until the end of time, so we must get some data on them!

Because G25 is using credible genomes. Not some low coveraged trash.

I have a question about Sample SSG-A2, the Gaelic Viking settler. The links I have read indicate that his Gaelic ancestry vastly outweighs his Norse. How is that possible if one presumes that the Gaelic influence in Icelandic society was from slaves or wives?

I am going off memory so please fact check what I say to be certain, but IIRC the Viking paper had 10 samples that were not Scandinavian like at all (Insular ancestry) but were from Viking contexts, 4 of these were Orcadians, who appeared to be culturally Scandinavian but were ethnically probably Indigenous to the Orkneys. I'm assuming the situation for the Icelandic Gaels was similar.
