Minhas, Hindu/Sikh/Muslim, tend to score high SI.

i agree with what MonkeyDLuffy Says - but at the same time i do think it has abit of caste impact too especially in terms of history maybe?? though this doesnt mean anything, as every group will have some sort of different results too that will look the same.

let me post a link - i can be relevant and not relevant:

    Its a rajput related topic:

    Haha awesome

Sure thing, my Harappa results (tested originally V3 on 23andme) are:

    1 Baloch 38.93
    2 S-Indian 31.78
    3 NE-Euro 8.97
    4 Caucasian 14.01
    5 SW-Asian 1.44
    6 Mediterranean 0
    7 Siberian 0.87
    8 American 0.66
    9 Papuan 0.94
    10 W-African 0
    11 Beringian 0.33
    12 San 0.22
    13 SE-Asian 0.52

Also, I recently got my paternal granddad's (tested V5) results too - sharing in case of interest. Some interesting (minor) differences from my own - but I guess that's to be expected!

    1 Baloch 37.93
    2 S-Indian 32.43
    3 Caucasian 10.10
    4 NE-Euro 8.89
    5 Mediterranean 4.58
    6 SW-Asian 1.98
    7 Siberian 1.85
    8 American 1.25

These are my results for comparison:

    # Population Percent
    1 Baloch 37.86
    2 S-Indian 34.96
    3 Caucasian 13.85
    4 NE-Euro 4.37
    5 SW-Asian 3.07
    6 Siberian 1.99
    7 NE-Asian 1.34
    8 E-African 1.16

    Im a punjabi "Syed".

Seems like Rajputs have lower NE Euro as compared to jatts and around the same amount of caucasian. My NE Euro seems to be very low though

I still think you do have some west asian ancestry, not central asian kind. You've elevated SW Asian and minor East african, so it can be some kind of arab or southern Iranian. Even baloch is a possibility too.

I agree with MonkeyDLuffy - those elevated SW-Asian and East African do seem suggestive, from what I know, of a West Asian ancestor somewhere in the mix.

Also, does anyone know what my grandad's 4.58% Med could be about? I mentioned it in another thread when I first got his results and I think some friends there advised it could be to do with the 23andme testing chip or it could be legit - is there anyway I can find that out?

Also, on Punjabi Rajputs, I was thinking it might be interesting to share details on Haplogroups too, as that could shed some light on whether Rajputs are really an ethnic group or whether it's just a socio-cultural group that emerged from the caste system and absorbed different people from different backgrounds into the fold at various points in time..

Yes the elevated med might be because of some distant west asian ancestor. We've Jatts that score really high Med too but then they're high steppe as well, but in your case your steppe is kind of average for a punjabi.

Med is not equal to SW Asian.

It's not, but high med has been observed in SAs with west asian admixture, like misanthorpy who has Yemeni ancestor. While in jatts high med went along with high NE euro, in Ahmed ali's grandfathee case the Med is very high and NE euro is average or low.
