She has previously said that they are doing full genome-wide sequencing with the ancient DNA at Repton in collaboration with a team at the University of California, Santa Cruz and the Max Planck Institute in Jena on a podcast https://www.historyhit.com/discoveri...iking-remains/

There's also this talk from February last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFf2...suFI07ixKij2FU

I am looking forwards to this very much.

I drive through Repton everyday on my way to work.

    Cheers, Ade.

I just watched this documentary, which was excellently made and entertaining but had very little on aDNA and nothing to say regarding what we might expect on that score in future. This is what the aDNA amounted to: the "Repton warrior" was buried with a young man who had often been assumed to be a retainer. According to Dr Lars Fehren-Schmitz speaking on the show, DNA shows the warrior and accompanying burial "didn't have the same mother but that they have the same paternal lineage, which actually only leaves that they were father and son." This, according to the programme, could be king Olaf and his son Eystein. Olaf raided in Ireland and presumably linked up with the great Viking army, was killed in 874 raiding around Scotland. Eystein was killed a year later. Many of the bones at Repton could have been carried from faraway battlefields and buried there, according to the show, as a sign of conquest that showed a claim to the land.

    mtDNA: traces to Glamorgan, Wales
Mother's Y: traces to Llanvair Discoed, Wales

Interesting. Though I'm not sure how certain we can be in terms of where Amlaíb Conung is buried or his son Oistin mac Amlaíb. Though it would make sense given the graves, some altercation between Halfdan Ragnarsson of Northumbria and Eystein is believed to have taken place.

I wish they would have shared which haplogroup their paternal lineage was...

Are these remains the ones featured in My True Ancestry's archeogenetic matches? On their site I get 3 gladiators, all found at York dated circa 250 A.D.

Just watched it on catch up, interesting documentary, seemed to have homed in on location of Foremark, near Derby as location of Great Hearthen Army, but very short on technical details like Haplogroups and other DNA info.

No. My True Ancestry is using the Driffield Terrace remains from Roman Era Britain.

Yes, that was an interesting archaeological finding, in addition to the previously known sites at Repton and Torksey.
