Maybe you need more than 5 components to locate your position with some certainty:

The fifth component goes around Europe through Iceland, Italy and Balkans.

Thanks, but you'll have to excuse me for being map challenged. I can see a blue shape with a smaller red shape within it. I can also see a large blue shape with a smaller blue shape within it. I'm not sure whether that makes 2 or 4 chromosomes. I have no idea where the other 1-3 chromosomes are situated.

These are not chromosomes. You cannot interpret these lines in that way. In more than one part of Europe the first component has its maximum

So how to interpret those lines/shapes? It's as clear as mud to me. I have no idea what countries are involved except for you mentioning Baltic for pc1(Estonia,Latvia, Lithuania).

    Hello ph2ter,

Would you please do mine also? I’d like to see where the two I couldn’t find show up.

    Thanks in advance!

    ph2ter,

Thank you for these maps, it is interesting and informative to look at the gradients.

How were the maps created? Are they based population averages and geographic centers, or did you have other geographic information on samples to use?
