My new beta results has decreased my Italian from 20. 8 down to 12% and shifted from 1 to 3 range to 3 to 5 range. Now my mother’s father is Sicilian. His parents are sicilian. My mother is half Sicilian. Furthermore, beta increased my French and German which truly does go back 5 to 8 generations.

Doesn’t make sense to me. Ancestry has me at 22% Italian, 3% German/French. Doesn’t that sound more realistic?

I should be 50% Croatian as all 4 great grandparents from Croatia, some Slovenia further back. (Dad)
I should be 25% Sicilian since grandfather and great grandparents from Sicily (mom)
I should be 12.5% Irish and 12.5% colonial American Where my French dutch German and British isles roots come from

I have the same issue. Only problem is I have always had this issue. My aunt, my dads sister, is 57% South European. I am 15% lol. Add in the 4-5% West Asian and things get closer to reality but I have no idea what their Southern European reference set includes. I do think, based on the basic chr paining option 23 and me has, that most of the Broady European is actually Italian as the missing pieces on the Italian Chr's are where the broadly Euro is. But thats only 2 or 3 5 if i remember correctly.

    Hi, Nino90.
What was the increase or decrease from your original results compared to your beta results for Scandinavian and Broadly NW European percentages?
    Thanks.

Please check my thread : My 23andme results.

Not a huge change. Since Broadly North Western could be anything from North Italian to Scandinavia from what I have understand.
I am 50-65% Scandinavian in most calculators.

I haven't checked my results in quite some time, this update seems to be more in line with my ancestry.

I haven’t checked out your thread yet, but just to add on the topic; it seems to my eye that Northern Germans and Dutch score this component the most. Southern scandos come close. This sound in line with reality to you?

My father (1/2 German largely from the north, 1/4 Danish, 1/4 Brit if some sort. Possible Dutch and minor Swedish too) used to score the most broadly nw euro on 23andme that I’ve personally seen- on the older versions, a little over fifty percent! It’s whittled down since to a “modest” 30-40 percent of memory serves me well.

Well beta did add 2.2% west Asian North Africa to mine too. I guess this could be due to Sicilian? That would bring Italian closer to 15% . I’m keeping beta off for now leaving my non beta results which are similar to ancestry dna.

    ...
This is what I am seeing in my results. From the original to beta analysis, my Broadly NW European went down 4.9% with my Danish going up 4.7% (French & German went up a little, also). So I think they are starting to be able differentiate some of the various Germanic ethnicities out of the Broadly NW European category.

I guess you are right. You must have dna close to dutch People. I often plot near Dutch People on PCA maps but only because its a midpoint between north Italian and north / central swedish.
Otherwise I have no central or north west European ancestry.
