    DNA SEGMENTS

    Hello,

I am very confused and I wanted to know, what if you share DNA with a set of DNA matches who are siblings and your siblings happen to share some with that same dna match sibling, and is over like 11cM? is that considered IBS? my parents do not match these, so what explains these matches with siblings?

are they recent or Ancient ancestry? i get many of these matches.

(i get alot of close european also and i have no clue if they are ancient or recent, highest has been 23cM in some cases) (im sure these cant be steppe related right)? im starting to question this now.

Me and my sisters also match a guy on X but mother of father neither of them matches?

please do note I am of South asian background, I have no clue neither do I have a paper trail as we dont go by that. So I may not be able to relate to some some you may advise me on - but I really would like help into understand the sibling matches that parent do not much, and how recent or ancient a match is, these two questions.

    Thanks!

Also when people do not know the difference between Incest and Inbred........ sigh...

I match with you on both your X (three segments!) and autosomal (a small segment at the beginning of ch14). I am white but of Romani ancestry and most of our shared matches are of Romani ancestry too. So it could be distant Romani ancestry in white people which makes you match with them- the Romani diverged from the populations of what is now northwest India and Pakistan around 900 years ago.

    I shall inbox you

I think some threshold on 23andme arent showing up in parents but me and my sisters all match the same matches. so i think this is where its going wrong? because some match my parents on gedmatch at small segments so i think this is the issue here.
