    Danish Dna

The most frequent results I get apart from British are a minor but above noise level of Scandinavian. On DIY calculators I get Norwegian while my father usually doesn't above noise levels. The reverse is true for Swedish.

I've often wondered about Danish ,but there's not many calculators that use it . The K36 map, first me then my father.

Interesting. I'm half English (Yorkshire), a quarter French and quarter German and I similarly obtain a notable degree of Scandinavian depending on the tests. 23andme put my estimate at 0.8%, which is the lowest I've ever seen it. Usually, the higher Scandinavian comes with tests that overestimate my British ancestry (inferring that the French and German is just residual ancient British), leaving a bit of Germanic left over which it just classifies as "Scandinavian". I think 23andme gets at a more residual Danish or Norwegian Viking ancestry from my Yorkshire side, but I can't be sure. Besides, Danish and North German are very similar, meaning the 18% odd that I got in "Broadly Northwestern European" (high in Frisia and Denmark) might be hiding some more residual ancestry I'm not aware of.

If you'd like to see my K36 results, I did a post about them recently.
