    DNA Painter Trees

    Has anyone tried out the new trees option at DNA Painter? This functionality was initially rolled out to subscribers, but now available to all registered users. I uploaded a GEDCOM and it extracted the direct ancestors up to my 4th great-grandparents (I believe it does further generations if you're a subscriber) and I added earlier generations manually.

    There are some viewing options that I quite like - the fan chart shows a nice visual of where my genealogy research has taken me back on reasonably far on some lines and not so well on other lines and where there are gaps in my tree. There's options to hover you cursor over the segments in the fan and it will highlight the display to name, realtionship and dates of birth and death (if you've entered them). Here's what my overall fan looks like:

    There's also options to highlight filters for ancestors on Y, mt and X-DNA paths, as well as tagging ancestors that you have a DNA match with a common descendant on paper trail:

    And there's a tool for checking tree completeness, noting the number of ancestors at each generation of your tree as a percentage versus the total:
