OK, so there's R1a in the Bronze Age and Iron Age Swat Valley.

    Game over.

    But I wonder if it's L657. Probably.

If it was originally 4% in South Asia, and not just in the Swat Valley, then their descendnets sure made a huge impact since then, especially in the upper castes.

    Language change came with that.

Female mediated IE is relevant as well, especially for modern day populations in that area. Though, of course, steppe markers became disproportionately more male dominated further east (but female mtdna is also sparsely present).

There's only one analyzed deeper, and it seems to be R-Z2122. Though, its possible the others are R-L657.

I see there is a "J2b" in Swat valley 1000-800 BCE. Does anyone know if there is any BAM files for this study or anything in more detail?

And of course, there is two more from Hajji Firuz that were previously published in a pre-print.
