Mirabilis jalapa (Four O'clock) flower color genetics?

My neighbour grows one of these plants and I've always been curious about its flower color inheritance pattern. Most plants produce either yellow or fuchsia flowers, but in some of them you can observe flowers that have the two colors. What's even more surprising is that the two-colored flowers belong to the same plant that also has one-color ones (either fuchsia or yellow). Does anybody have any information about the inheritance pattern of this trait?
