    Rosemarkie Pictish Man

I've been told that the Rosemarkie L151 man has been tested for downstream haplogroups and the project are now double-checking their findings. They aim to publish the results in a paper concerning Scottish DNA in the near future.

Here's a link to his preliminary DNA report, showing his mt-Haplogroup (J1b1a1a) and Y-Haplogroup (R1b-L151): ROSEMARKIE MAN GENETIC ANALYSIS RESULTS.
Interesting factoid: My user name, Stone Meadow, is a translation of my Old English given name, Hidden Content .

Can't wait to see his autosomal profile. We'll finally get a look at how different or similar the Picts may have been to the surrounding British and Irish peoples from other cultures. That'll be absolutely huge for many regulars on here. Will alan be correct in that they won't be very different at all from the gaels, for example? Will the genetic studies on the modern groups that seem to correlate to ancient kingdoms and cultures be correct in that there's a noticeable difference? I'm on the edge of my seat!

They have already called downstream SNPs, and these are being double-checked. The release date of this important info is unknown at present. They may wait and publish a variety of results at the same time. I rather hope they let us know Rosemarkie Man's Y-DNA results before then as I'm like a small child awaiting Christmas! On several previous occasions info has surfaced before the embargo date.

Don't we already have some Pictish data from the Viking paper (some Picts who went Viking)? Hopefully the Rosemarkie Pict is older.
