Maybe its a relic from an obscure event?
I think that's what I'm secretly hoping for if I'm honest. 250+ Scottish ancestors and not a sniff of even an Englishman among them, gets unbelievably boring after a while.

    I'm about 30% Scottish .

    DNA Land- FTDNA Amazonian 1%
    - 23 Native American 1.1%
    - My heritage Amazonian 1.2%
    - Ancestry DNA Amazonian 1.2%

FTDNA gives <1% North and central American .

The known Scottish ancestry is from my mother's side. On the mixed mode thread she gets quite a few native American as the secondary population with both ancient and modern.

I've been told it's due to heightened ANE. i'm not in a position to challenge that, and accept that's a reasonable explanation. What it means more fully about my mother's ancient/modern ancestry I'm not at all sure .

without reasonable belief of an Indian ancestor I would say the excessive ANE is a good rule of thumb explanation.

What does excessive ANE mean though in terms of ancestry ? What brings it about ?

My dad isn't Scottish but he is Irish and gets <1% South American with FTDNA. He also gets Native American percentages on all the GEDmatch calculators.
