    DNA results HELP!

    Hi,
    I got these three results:
    Screen Shot 2020-01-04 at 2.53.10 PM.png

    Screen Shot 2020-01-04 at 2.51.36 PM.png

    Screen Shot 2020-01-04 at 2.40.05 PM.png

Wtf?! Am I Middle Eastern or not? What about Spanish? Why is Ancestry.com so different than the rest?
I also had the genetics professor from EuroGenes analyze my raw dna and he said that he found Lebanese but no Turkish which is interesting given the results of these tests.

What is your known ancestry? If you have Italian, particularly Southern Italian, ancestry, it's possible that your West Asian/Turkish percentages come through that, and not directly from West Asia. It's impossible to say, though, without knowing something about your background.

If I am correct in assuming that you only tested with Ancestry and the other 2 are raw data uploads, then one could argue that the West Asian part (not Middle Eastern, huge genetic difference) is simply an interpretation of your Italian ancestry by their algorithms. Perhaps your Italian part has Southern Italian roots and those might be partially interpreted as West Asian.
Recent ancestry: 2/4 Central Moldova (Orhei district), 1/4 Southern Moldova (Cahul district), 1/4 Northern Moldova (Briceni district)

Yes, I have known ancestry from Sicily, specifically an Arab village. I am assuming the ME is from that? But also the Spanish I'm curious about, since it has such a high percentage in My Heritage.

I think that's the most likely explanation for the West Asian ancestry then. As for Iberian, I'd take MyHeritage results, and all commercial DNA results for that matter, with a grain of salt. Do you have French ancestry as well? That could easily be mistaken for Iberian ancestry. Trace amounts of Iberian ancestry could come from the Italian as well, but swapping French for Iberian is more common with these tests.

The West Asian category is too broad with these companies that sometimes end up lumping Moroccans and Georgians under this incredibly broad and often nonsensical term.

I think I have French but I'm not sure. Sicily is such a large mixing pot, I think I get a lot of my heritage through there due to the amount of admixture it's gotten.

Well, in Sicily have been Normans and that is from where you got NW admixture, have been Eastern Roman Empire and from there you got the Eastern European and Balkan ancestry.
    Normans had also French ancestry.
