Who built first kurgans?

Some researches (see link) say that the first kurgans appeared with the Maykop culture and was later copied by yamna. But artefacts inside steppe kurgans have been dated to before 4000BC. Before Maykop existed. There is also a 6000 year old kurgan in poland. So now im confused. Where were the first kurgans built and who copied who?
