It's very difficult to say what the genetics of historical figures would be. I put a 5% cap on it because we don't see anything in Harappa. It's possible that 1 or 2 people in 64 had Mughal ancestry. It's very hard up say.

The other issue is that all of us mid to upper caste Punjabis can model with minor Levant like mixture. This individual could have PJL + Gangetic plain + Punjabi + minor Turkik/Pashtun and could end up with these numbers.

Phenotype isn't generally a good indicator of ancestry.

This, I look very east asian, and members have commented I look central asian mixed. But we know that's not the case from genetics. It's better to avoid phenotype discussions here.

Yes, that's right, the phenotype is secondary, only the genetics reveal our origins but you have to consider as someone has already said in the thread that if, for example, you had East Asian ancestors in the past and there is no more genetic influx, the traces of this population are Washed out in 200 years, so to speak. As far as I know, only a small fraction of our genes make up how we look. Perhaps at some point the Wholegenom test will become less favorable where you can go even more deeply.

Living descendants of the Mughals themselves look very Indian now so you are right.

However this guy is definitely a clown lol:

Apparently he is R1a1a and this is his claim:

However, according to Tucy’s Facebook posting, his father was not a Mughal, and that he is claiming Mughal lineage from his mother’s side (Zartaj Begum), which cannot be done using this DNA test method. For him to test through his maternal (and paternal) side/s, he must do a different type of DNA test called mtDNA, which involves an entire set of complexities involving the whole genome. If this was not enough to gum up the works, his mother’s dad (i.e. maternal grandfather) was not a Mughal either. Tucy is also making his mother claim her Mughal lineage from her mother (Laila Umahani) as well!

R1a1a is wide-ranging it depends on the subclade and group / subgroup, for example R1a L657 Y7 can be associated with Indo-Aryans but not Mughals because R1a Z2125 S23592 would be more appropriat

He said that his Mughal claim was via his grandmother's paternal line. He would need to test one of them to confirm it.
