SNPs are more reliable than STRs for haplogroup designation, as SNPs serve as confirmation, whereas STRs only serve as prediction. What company did you test with?

I don't think CRI will give me the raw data. I haven't used NEVGEN but will try. thanks

I just used NEVGEn and it gave me very different results with a 32% probability and 34% Fitness. I just talked with FTDNA and they are going to take a look at my results again.

I've done a little bit of research and CRI apparently do not accept raw data downloads, which is a shame.

Regarding FTDNA, an Anthrogenica user here has purchased FTDNA tests for men from her village and initially, their STR's couldn't be allocated reliably to a haplogroup, so FTDNA had to do what's called a backbone test, where they will test for a relatively small number of important mutations until they get a result (you won't get a very detailed result from this as it's free when they do it). This may be what FTDNA does for you. In any case, it's good that you contacted them.
