I would think "gypsy" would be more North India than South India, but I am far from versed with that region. This is why I removed such abstract groups for which I have no known ancestry or any reason to suspect it, and that they only very seldom pop up and in such fractional amounts. however, in the case you mention 4.4% is well above noise level and could be an indication of such an immigrant ~125 years ago.

Yeah. Quite unlikley because this relative of mine has Swedish ancestry recorded some hundred years ago, And there is not very likley that South Indians travelled to Sweden 100 years ago.

So I acctually don't know. But thanks for your input.

I think the population samples used by the author to create the source group was very good. incremental removal of each non-NW group from my results kept the NW populations fairly consistent as well as the distances. I only wonder why my non-NW group was so scattered with the initial results and only began to consolidate as I began to remove the lesser ones. The NW groups came up as two solid blocks.

Does relative2 has Roma matches? It is interesting, can be increased steppe also, yes?

This relative of mine is acctually said to have some Saami ancestry. But shows very low Siberian in most test.
However I seen many Swedish samples scoring Cossack_Kuban not sure why.

No this person does not have any Roma matches. And somebody on this forum explained that Romani ancestry should show up as North Indian, not South.
And how realistic is it with southern Indians in Scandinavia 100+ years ago?

Everything is possible, does he have Indian on commercial tests? If he has real Romani heritage, he should have it on 23andme, if not, it is high steppe I think

Humor me if you will with this. Considering where the steppe is, why would higher than normal amounts of it in a Scandinavian show up as south Indian or even Romani? With all the other populations to pick from that would reflect that, and be a lot closer to the region it seems odd to me.

No. Nothing. Maybe we should ask some of the amature geneticist on this forum.
