    W5

W6 is probably from the Neolithic since the first known W6 ancients are from Early Bronze Age almost 5.000 years ago and some of these have private mutations, so W6 had already split in many branches. The exact origin of W6 is unkown, but from the geographic spread of its branches, it is reasonable to believe that W6 was present on the Central Asian Steppes before the Indo-European expansion westward towards Europe and southeastward towards India.

Early samples have been found in Seistan in Shahr-i Sokhta, Voronkovo in Yaroslavl in Russia, Timofeyevka in Ivanovo in Russia, Podlesnyj in Russia, Plinkaigalis in Lithuania [W6a], Lopatino I at the Sok River in Samara in Russia [W6c]. All these samples are about 4.500-5.000 years old.

We have so far mapped about 80 subclades under W6.
