Why Indians never recorded their history or events?

This is strange and I think only unique to Indian civilizations. They never recorded their own history or events, everything we know about India is recorded by outsiders, be it Greeks, Persians, Arabs, Muslims, British etc..... why is that? Why were Indians not interested in their own history and events? I mean we even forgot about IVC, it was the British who discovered that.

Also books like Rig Vedas are so old, we are not even exactly sure how and where they were written, like Indo aryans perhaps at that point didn't call themselves Indians, they were just migrants like all others, because even In Rig Vedas they are thinking about their old (Cold) lands, rather then India
