No, they haven't. I didn't post my results in that thread, so they weren't discussed. Stick to that thread if you like it. I don't like to post new results in a huge thread so they can instantly disappear.

There really was no need for you to come over to this thread in order to campaign for another (way too big) thread you prefer.

When I see a thread that is already well along and over 400 posts before I arrive, I don't usually bother with it (you mentioned boredom). Not going to read a book-length thread on a dna chat forum when I can just start my own thread with my brand new results and see if anyone responds.

I'm happy with my results. From my communities, DNA matches in America, Ulster region and Scotland, then what I know about my ancestors, it's accurate enough. The separation of Ireland and Scotland along with matches, has already helped my tree. All my percentages look good from what I know so far. 20200912_074311.jpg 20200912_074209.jpg

Hmmm . . . well, it will be interesting to see how Ancestry irons that out. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, the Scotland percentage seems a trifle high, but I do have a lot of Scots on both sides of my tree, so it isn't outrageous.

A knowledgeable friend of mine said Ancestry's "Scotland" includes much of Northern England, as well, so that might account for some of it.

That seems to be the case yes. Though the stats appear to be accurate for full Irish/Scottish people.

I think the category represents Northern British, Celtic ancestry.

Judging from their map that would appear to be the case

If I’m estimating it correctly, it looks likes it’s goes down as far as North Yorkshire.
    Paper Trail: 42.25% English, 31.25% Scottish, 12.5% Irish, 6.25% German, 6.25% Italian & 1.5% French. Or: 86% British Isles, 6.25% German, 6.25% Italian & 1.5% French.
    LDNA(c): 86.3% British Isles (48.6% English, 37.7% Scottish & Irish), 7.8% NW Germanic, 5.9% Europe South (Aegean 3.4%, Tuscany 1.3%, Sardinia 1.1%)
    BigY 700: I1-Z140 >I-F2642 >Y1966 >Y3649 >A13241 >Y3647 >A13248 (circa 620 AD) >A13242/YSEQ (circa 765 AD) >FT80854 (circa 1650 AD).

Scottish seriously over estimated. I really think they should have went beta and got some feedback.

Speaking of Ancestry's map, take a look at this:

Ancestry's Scotland with red arrow for Bretagne.jpg

    Apparently "Scotland" includes Bretagne!

As a matter of fact, I have some Breton ancestry, although not a lot. One set of 7th great grandparents I know of were from Bretagne. They were Huguenots who settled in Virginia's Manakin Town. (I added the red arrow.)

Here's an explanation by Ancestry of the different shadings of its "Scotland" zone.

    Ancestry_explanation of Scotland percentages.jpg

My own Scots ancestors really were mostly from the west, so it makes some sense.
