    Scandinavian ?

Looks like I got lucky. My V3 is actually not to bad.
    52% Central Euro
    28% British.

However 19% Scandinavian with no known ancestors from there in my tree. So this should be split between Central and Euro. Any thoughts what Scandinavian is most likely to be proxy for?.

If this 19% was listed as a broadly category. or split between the two. It would be likely my most accurate result.

yeah, I don't think raw data uploads to some companies work so well. of course your German, English and Scottish could very well be Scandinavian leaning when you consider the history of the North Sea region. I don't know about your German and Swiss, but my German is Lower Saxony which is on the North Sea coast, coupled with my English and Scottish I get great grand parent level Scandinavian on some calculators without any direct Scandinavian ancestry for at least 200+ years. You're getting a bit more than that though.

Could be North German, in addition to Scandinavian ancestry common to the British isles. Scandinavians score a lot of British/Irish on 23andme and vice versa.

FTDNA gives me way too much Scandinavian (almost a quarter now and even more last time). I noticed on the map, Scandinavia overlaps with Scotland as well as Central Europe, so I think that's probably why it is getting overstated with many people.
Ancestry on paper: English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, French, Dutch, German, Spanish/Portuguese, African, Cherokee

To be clear, it's the same company -- FTDNA was who Nat Geno used to process their samples (before the Helix mess), so you just had to check a box and presto you also have FTDNA results.
Not quite the same as transferring a data summary from another entity.
FTDNA did Big Y testing off "Nat Geno" samples

Back on topic, like the OP my dad got a big boost in Scandinavian:
    Edit 2 -- Dad's results.

    Europe 100%
    Western Europe
    Great Britain 47%
    Scandinavia 29%

    Southern Europe
    Italian Peninsula 14%
    Sardinia 5%

    European Jewish
    Ashkenazi Jewish 5%

While it's entirely possible that both his German side and his British side have deep Scandinavian roots (see my recent posts on VK333 being a distant relative on both lines), nobody in our tree/last 500 years seems to be from there.
We also don't have any known Italian or Sardinian. It could be that Italian + Scandinavian = what his mixed West German/Swiss German side resembles.

I have no known Scandinavian but have several 3-5th Scandinavian cousins at FTDNA. They are on chr7, which is partly Scandinavian according to 23andMe.

My dad got 34% Great Britain, 28% Central Europe, 21% Scandinavian, and 18% Ireland.

In reality, I estimate him (imperfectly, based on 3rd g-grandparents) at 63% English and 19% Welsh, 6% French, 9% German, and 3% Dutch. Assuming the Irish shown is really his Welsh, then it looks like the Scandinavian and part of the Central Europe should be English.

My sister and I also got about twice the Scandinavian we should have, whereas my mom (who had a full Swedish grandmother, so should be about 25%) got no Scandinavian, and 97% Great Britain. So I'm not sure there's a pattern.
