    Full English results

I have an hypothesis that increased Scottish results ( often with no known Scottish ancestry) are caused by English Celtic ancestry being incorporated into the Scottish sample. Or Scottish Celtic ancestry being the same/similar as English Celtic ancestry.

So, I was interested to see if there is a difference between Northern English and Southern English results?

Could full English members (at least 3rd GGG grandparents born in England) post their current and past results please?

I am interested to see if there are any trends.

I'm a few generations removed, both parents are Canadian but their parents immigrated from or had grandparents who immigrated. Only a few lines go back to Canada earlier, but all to England.

Father - Southern English (London), but has a good deal of recent SW English ancestors - Somerset and Cornwall on both sides.

I agree that it's "Celtic" ancestry, probably Brythonic ancestry. I may have the odd Scottish line further back but it's certainly many centuries ago.

Some of my father's close cousins 1st and 2nd whose documented surnames were in Somerset also score appreciable "Welsh". So I assume it's just a matter of those bits of ancestry not being passed onto him, or to myself.

We have the same total Scotland/Ireland - mine being 29% Scotland and 11% Ireland. I can only assume mine is pulling from Scots-Irish immigration... but I am not sure. I also have 48% England & NW Europe.

Perhaps 100% English is a little too stringent. Maybe predominately English with no known Scottish/Irish Ancestry after 3 x GGP, will get more takers?

I'm predominately (~ 80%) English (SE, SC and SW, although prior to 3 x GGP, a reasonable proportion could be found hugging the Welsh Borders North to South. One of my 3 x GGP came from Lincolnshire)

I'd wager that at least part of the Welsh Scores/percentages represent the same thing, given that many individuals with no known 'Welsh' Ancestry are getting between 4-8%. Of course these percentages are nowhere near the magnitude of the Scottish component, but it's there nevertheless. Maybe the difference is purely whether these components are Northern or Western Brythonic....he says wildy speculating....

I agree that it's Brythonic or "Celtic" ancestry.

My ancestry back from my parents to the 1600's is mostly Lancashire with some West Yorkshire or North Wales. One only great grandparent is midlands.

My 2019 result was 86% England Wales Northwest Europe, 7% Sweden 7% Norway.
    New result. 55% England, 19% Scotland, 10%Ireland, 8% Sweden, 6% Norway, 2% Wales.

I have no Scottish or Irish on my paper trail, or Scandinavian for that matter. So I take this as pre 1000AD.
