Welcome to the forum! My origins are not too dissimilar to yourself, with a dollop of Celtic nations (Welsh ~20% so far possibly more) , with the main serving made up by Southern England (Devon ~9%, Cornwal ~ 2%, Kent/Sussex 25% , 45% NW Lnndon/Chilterns/Cotswolds) and a sprinkling of exotic Lincolnshire (~4%)

Although are results are hardly identical, I am also a Scandinavian-Mediterranean-Celtic Mish-mash

So your not alone! But I would echo Mollfish and say you look very British/Irish, considerably more so than I, if one takes our relative 23&me v5.9 results into consideration!

Have you posted your latest Ancestry results anywhere on the forum yet.
    You got Cossack_Kuban too!

Yeah my AncestryDNA said British + Irish + 2% Norwegian originally. But in the latest update I got 50% English, 35% Irish and 15% Scottish.

What did your 23andme results say? I think I might have had an ancestor from Spain or Portugal. My mum told me a story about a Portuguese ancestor who was from Madiera. Madiera was populated by farmers from Minho and I have had some super distant matches in Spain, Portugal and Italy. Will have to investigate!

I think the Norwegian may have been from Vikings, but it’s interesting because I get some fairly good matches from Norway and Finland in particular. It’s probably worth investigating my Essex and Liverpudlian ancestors for some connection! It will be from a long time ago, but I need some entertainment during these times!

What are the non scaled coordinates for? I tried using them, but the results seemed a bit far fetched:

Always. I don't know where that is sneaking in from.

That's certainly fairly British and Irish leaning! My Ancestry is a bit more of a mess. 41% ENWE, 25% Welsh, 15% Norway, 14% Scotland, 2% Ireland, 2% France and 1% Sweden. I also get a huge number of Norwegian, Finnish and Danish matches (in that order), but all of them are below 20cM. My only Fennoscandian matches above 24cM are a couple of Swedish matches. In your case, it's certainly possible for a Norwegian Viking Influence, though it is equally likely to be the other way round, with Irish prisoners contributing to the local Norwegian genome, rather than Liverpudlian or Essex ancestors, which are more likely to be Danish like. In my case....no idea, other than I'm basically Danish, or I'm more Welsh Viking than I thought I was!

Madiera was populated by farmers from Minho and I have had some super distant matches in Spain, Portugal and Italy. Will have to investigate!
v5.9 update gave me 71% B & I, 29% F & G, which so far is the lowest B&I score I've seen for anyone with solely UK heritage (although I'm still holding out hope for some Norfolk testers). Your portugese ancestor sounds like an interesting area to research. I think a lot of UK testers lost their Southern European scores this time around, so it would seem to be something tangible. Do you have any ideas where your Portugese ancestors settled, and when?

It is interesting looking at the matches and the countries that you have the most with. MyHeritage lets you easily see the countries that you have the most matches with and while their Ancestry Comp might not be the best they do have the most testers in Europe out of all the dna companies. My largest amount of matches outside of Britain and Ireland (only looking at European countries and not diaspora like US, Australia etc) are from Norway, Denmark and Sweden then France and Germany (in that order). You have to check the origin of these people because it is just on where people live and not their ethnicity. My biggest match is in Denmark (a first cousin, twice removed) but they appear Irish. I share 89.6 cms with them and with full Danes the largest is 25 cm and then a few in the 22.6 cm and lower. With Norway which I have the most matches after UK and Ireland the shared matches are larger with the largest being 33.6 cm with the next highest being 31.7 cm.

I've never looked at these too closely so don't know if they are just deep ancestry from being North western European. I know other people on here are more knowledgeable about this type of thing but British and Irish people do appear to have connections with Scandinavians and I don't know if this is Viking related or going back further.

Because Jessie and Fionn have it in high numbers. And another member referred to Icelandic as an Irish proxy.

If you look at the closest population to Icelanders is on G25 it is Norwegian which is what you would expect.

I think Norwegian is a proxy for Scottish type ancestry in this case.

I don’t have much foreign matches. The problem is that most of them are expats or half British Isles.
