Matches From Mainland Europe - Are We Related?

I’m British, but on MyHeritage I have some matches from Mainland Europe. These people do not appear to share any British heritage.

Matches also appear on 23andme from the following countries, however there are less of them and it’s not showing the segment sizes:
    Sweden x2
    Finland
    Belarus

How can I tell if we are related?

Could I ask if these matches are from an upload or from an actual myheritage kit? I've just been going through my mainland matches on Myheritage, across MH kit, 23&me and Ancestry kit, and I have to say whilst there are overlaps in my matches, there appear to be a large number of high vM false matches on the uploads. The dangers of imputation....

At least in your case you have verified their existence on another platform.

This was my AncestryDNA kit uploaded to MyHeritage.

MyHeritage seems to cover more of Europe. Alas, DNA testing is expensive.

Tell me about it......but addictive. I've just been suckered into my second WGS test.

You might be better with the 23&me upload to MMyhritage, if and when you can do that for free again,, as it will have less imputation (both test on the same chip currently). Having said all of that.....MH did used to use the Omniexpress, so for 'matching' it might not really matter, only on Ethnicity breakdowns. I suppose it could depend which chip your match is on, as Ancestry will align more closely with older testers, whilst 23&me will align with new testers. Sadly, this is the information we don't get!

Perhaps, some one more knowledgable about matching algorithms would care to chip in, and whether indeed imputation is not a feature here.

With me 22 medium or better matches at My heritage that are non British, and wholly or predominantly Scandinavian. 2 of those are also FTDNA matches. Of those one is a q factor match of 382(FTDNA upload) and 451(super kit)

My Heritage accepts combined kits? Well that would take care of most issues I raised pertaining to matches, provided your overlapping SNPs on both kits align

Super kit is via Gedmatch. You can combine all the kits you've uploaded there.

Just tried a combined kit I made through dna kit studio

DNA kit CCEBBF was uploaded successfully and assigned to you.
The file you have uploaded is in a format that we do not currently support. We are working to add support for this file type soon and will notify you by email once your results are ready.

Ah I see. So could I combine AncestryDNA plus 23andme and then analyse that as a super kit or upload to MyHeritage?

i have two hybrid kits. at Gedmatch. I can upload such kits to My heritage but can't currently use them.

I've combined my kits on GEDmatch and just uploading my 23andme kit to MyHeritage.

Let's see what kind of matches I get...
