With Central Russia i mean here the Volga region too from where settlers and local Cossacks were send to South Russia. The Volga region and espcieally regions around the Ural have strong Finno-Ugrian admix much less so regions around Moscow, Vladimir and Tver.

I am not aware yet of any modern day Slavic Cossack sample clustering with Tatars and phenotypically they look just like other Russians from South Russia. Not even most Tatars in Tatarstan look fully "turkic" so i don't really understand how someone can see Kuban Cossacks as looking "fully turkic". They have more non-Russian admix for sure but in many cases it is rather of Vlach, Central Euro/Ukrainian/Polish, Volga Finnic or Caucasian than Tatar.

Ok, Finno-Ugric admix is visible on Global25, some of Cossacks score a lot of Saami with all samples in spreadsheet on G25. If you are interested in phenotype, here is, first image on Polish Wikipedia about Kuban Cossacks, https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kozacy_kuba%C5%84scy

The description of the phenotype "turkish" is a bit misleading, for example in the case of Volga-Ural Tatars from the phenotype, some have a Slavic-Ural look, others slightly East Asian features (Eurasia) and some look towards the Mediterranean but for example Turkey-Turks Phenotypically different and also the genetics are mostly different, that's why I find the term "Turkish" in terms of phenotypes superficial, but they are right most of the Slavic settlers who immigrated to the southern Russian steppe have a slight Ural admixture, for example ancestors the Baltic or Northern Russia and therefore share the Ural genes with the Tatars from the Volga-Ural region. With some Cossacks some of these "exotic" are to be found in the autosomal (between 1% -10%), with FTDNA we even have a Cossack with Y-DNA Z93 I think even with Z2124, but I am not quite sure and for example Kuban As you mentioned above, Cossacks have an admixture from the Caucasus.

In the case of Central Russia some of them had strong Finno-Ugrian admixture. So these Cossack sample from Kuban clusters closest with Russians in Kostroma and Tver on Global25.

Yes and Kuban Cossacks were indeed sort of connected to Mordvinic speakers also in my maps created by Ph2ter. Kostroma, I think, is then a kind of starting point for some part of that Karelian genetic mixture which ended up in Tver, much later. So, Karelian being labeled as Kuban Cossack makes sense, allthough it's not obviously right. Russian Starovers also seem have genetic links to the same groups.
