Post Your YouDnaPortal EDAR & East Asian, African and Native American Results

I’m curious as to what others get. Having had no DNA tests mention Asia, Africa or America (except MyHeritage and 1.1% West Asian), I doubt these indicate anything recent for me.

What is your ethnic background, which kit did you use and what were your results? Do you think these results are useful at all?

I have five copies for Native American, although most of my results say that my genome file didn't contain enough markers to be analyzed.
I have like 1 other marker for edar and African.

Edit: My mom has 6 copies for Native American

I can't remember which DNA kits were used for this site. As I expected as we have known ancestry from East, Southeast Asia and Africa we would get copies. My mum is 1/2 Southwestern English and 1/2 Mauritian Creole.

I don’t know what any of that means. Grandma is a French immigrant to the US and grandpa is a Russian immigrant to the US. Native American/East Asian for my grandfather and I could be something ancient, no idea about grandma.

I think it would be interesting to see what the prevalence is outside of the associated continents.

As for why I seem to have so many African-associated alleles, I have no known African ancestry; however, I used to get trace North African on 23andme and now Southern European. Maybe the results are somehow related? I don't know.

This is really interesting, thank you.

I found that the AncestryDNA kit covered more East Asian and African alleles, whereas the 23andme kit covered more Native American alleles.

Yes I agree. I also tried to make sense of it with our ACs.

My grandfather and I had minor Siberian on 23andMe, now I just have trace North African inherited from my grandma. With various G25 calcs, I do pick up small amounts of East Asian, Sami, South Pacific or Siberian. My grandfather had trace Polynesian on his initial AncestryDNA results and currently has a small amount of Malay/Filipino on MyHeritage - I thought I read/saw somewhere this could be a proxy for far north populations, which would make way more sense than having trace ancestry in the Pacific (for someone from the Baltic anyways).

Grandma only has North African, as do my mom and myself. I’m not sure where her Native American alleles would come from. I wouldn’t think Basque, but honestly that’s the only population I can think of close to her home (not sure of the allele similarity). African would have made sense though.

Perhaps one day we’ll figure it out
