1% is found in almost all European populations, so we can say it is absent in West Slavs, while very high in Northern and Eastern Russians.

Between, my greatgrandmother was Siberian Russian and East Asian genes in her were easily seen in phenotype, while I did not see the same with my Polish ancestors, whom phenotype was very Central European, so there are differences between West Slavic (additional Celto-Germanic genetic) and East Slavic (additional Finno-Ugric genetic) people
Yes. But the reason it is high in these population are not because of Avars or Mongol hords.

For example Finnic-Ugric people Like Mari and Komi etc are being heavy admixed with Slavic Russians. Then again. Most of their "Asian" DNA is Siberian and not East European from Steppe.

Does Romanians and Moldovan people really have high East Asian admix?

I seen some members on this forum with around 2 % East asian, Not Siberian admixture. Related to some of the central asiatic invasions.

Don't forget the Hungarian speaking Csango minority from Romania who call themselves Romanian Catholics nowadays. They get up to 7% East Eurasian in some cases.

This is based on Eurogenes K13, as most people don't buy Global 25.
The three East Eurasian-like components there are similar when someone has trace East Eurasian ancestry, which is why people with trace ancestries get inconsistent results. For some it's more shifted towards Siberian, for others towards East Asian or Amerindian, while in others it is spread evenly. That's why it should be seen as a sum of the three in such cases.

It's really the same thing in the end, but inherited from different populations. Folk that score majority Siberian (Chukchis, Yakuts, Evens, etc.) look like East Asians.

The Levenlutha sample shows that Saami like people lived in south Finland also in Iron age, And probably this early Saami people lived in much larger areas than modern time.

The Komi and Mari people are quite similar to Saami if i don't remember wrong. But of course heavy Slavic admixed.
The Mari clearly cluster close with both the Saami and the Levanluhta samples on a G25 PCA plot.

As a matter of fact, it's somewhat odd that despite being geographically southwest of the Komi, the Mari have a far high Siberian component than the Komi.

Then again, it could just be the result of a small sample pool (only 5 individuals) for the Mari in the G25 datasheet, and these are outliers.

They live next to the Saami and Finns, so that's normal. In Moldova and Romania the East Asian/Siberian influence likely came from Tatars, Cumans, Huns and isolated Hungarians like Csangos and Szekelys. But very few of them exist in unadmixed form nowadays; 20k in Romania and none in Moldova.

This is how a Romanian Tatar from Dobruja region scores:

This is very similar to Crimean Tatars (12 samples average).
