What subclades of U were likely for ANE?

Did any ANE U survive into the present day?

U4'9 seems like a good candidate. Extant U2 also. It's kind of hard to tell because the split between ANE and paleoEuropeans seems only to shortly post-date the split of the two and Near-Eastern y-hg J folks.

Agree with U4'9 (more specifically pre-U4 without the U9 branch which would have separated well over 30,000 years ago) , disagree with current U2 (U2e).

U9 in the Horn is probably brought via South Asian women or Arab women who had a distant South Asian female ancestor. The indigenous Cushitic/Ethio-Semitic U lineages are mostly U3 & U6

Yfull assigned U9b1* to my father who is from NW South Asia (Punjab-Pakistan). He shares the same subclade with another individual from Pakistan but the TMRCA is from the Neolithic time period when other subclades of U9b also form. An ancient sample, I believe from IA Xinjiang is under U9b1b and shares TMRCA with a NW South Asian individual from LBA/IA time frame. It was originally assigned a different haplogroup.

U9 possibly belonged to a Paleolithic-Mesolithic population from Arabian Peninsula to possibly SE Iran-south Central Asia and South Asia. Currently its only found among Saudis, Yemenis, Omanis, Pakistanis and a few Ethiopians, Azari, Turkish and South Indians so far. Though I have seen some European samples on FTDNA.

But ancient sample from Xinjiang raises other questions. Especially about the larger U4'9 branch and its relation to ANE.
