    Exclamation G25 Ancestry

    Hello all,

I'm trying to figure out my African ancestry. Can you please decipher it? I usually get 5% North African and 1-3% Sub-Saharan and was wondering where it's from.

It would help others if you also shared your known ancestry in order to assist with making sense of any outputs.

Let me update it real quick. Sorry I'm new to the site.

I am of majority Italian, Polish, and to a lesser extent Swedish and North African (Moroccan, Egyptian) descent.

Would your 5% North African not be from your Moroccan and Egyptian ancestry? Or are you just referring to the Sub-Saharan?

Both ancestries aren't overly high when using scaled coordinates. Your North African in particular is more evident when using your unscaled coordinates (which I assume are the ones titled "Ancient"). Doing individual/customized G25 modelling would be more useful in your case. Your SSA is possibly linked to your Italian or North African ancestries, but that's just a guess.

For some reason; my “ancient” ones are way more similar to my overall results which is weird. I think it is connected to that. Thanks for help! Which ancient African country came up? Was it Berber?

Normally unscaled is more useful for people who are more mixed. And indeed its Berber for North African, but you get a few more minor amounts of SSA.

    G25 Modern Scaled

    Code:
    Target: Jacob12086_scaled
    Distance: 1.7240% / 0.01724017

    Hello,
Oh really? Unscaled is more useful and accurate for mixed people ?, very interesting, and do you know why for mixed people it's more useful?
