Indians have a long long history in the United States. The first Indian to get citizenship in the United States was Parsi Bhicaji Bulsara. I remember my grandparents telling me about him. this was way back in the 1900s.

In fact, the first presence of an "east" Indian in the US was in 1635 and in 1912, there were already Sikh temples in Stockton, California.

She says her mtDNA is H5a1.

Coincidentally, I have a male with surname Haider whose L-M357 and H5a1 on my matches.

When she mentioned her mtDNA, I thought she was. Just putting two and two together. I'm curious if the male is her brother or father. Or if she understandably has the DNA Relatives turned off.

When I first did 23andMe nine years ago I was baffled at the amount of people that I matched with paternal L and West Eurasian maternal lines. Of course I was just getting into this stuff and didn't realize at the time that they were a mix of steppe migrations and people that were of mixed race.

Not South-Asian but did this remind me that I match ex-muslim activist and all round hater Masih Alinejad on 23andme...I know its her becausue Masih is a made up name she chose to be edgy but she just comes across corny. Unfortunately she hasn't shared her results and doesn't accept connection requests but from her wiki she's from somewhere in Mazandaran. Anyone know what ethnic group Alinejad tends to be from?
