Question Presence of Peninsular Arab in Southern Europeans

This thread is meant to discuss the presence of Peninsular Arab Dna (Saudi, Yemeni, Omani, Bedouin) in Southern Europeans. Is this ancestry common in Southern Europeans or other non-Arab groups? Also,
Can someone analyze if my Dna has any Yemeni in it? I have recently heard a story that my great-great grandmother may have been Yemeni.

If it is at all present i would look for it in Malta since they speak an Arab-Italian creole. Other than that Phoenician ancestry is present in small levels arround the Mediterranean and Cypriots have a pretty good chunk of Levantine.

Phoenician does seem rather evident in italian populations. Especially in South Italy, I've seen reports with up to 30% West Asian. Was there a recent migration to Italy or is this remnants of older dna?

Southern Europe has been settled by people with post-Neolithic MENA ancestry since the Iron Age, with much of the gene flow coming from North Africa and the Levant. Arabians are fairly easy to distinguish from North Africans and Levantines when we're talking about full-blooded people, but given that the MENA in Iberians and Italians is minor and likely sourced from different peoples across time, good luck trying to sort out what came from where. Uniparentals might be helpful.

No discerned Arab ancestry had been reported in Southern Italy/Sicily because the settlers were largely Moors/Berbers/Amaziɣ from Tunisia/East Algeria who got arabized in-situ, and Maltese isn't a direct dialect of Arabic but a specific dialect of the Tunisian phylum (characterized by local Roman era influence and many Amaziɣ loandwords).

My father is 50/50 English and Croatian, and consistently gets Saudi or a Yemeni population on most calculators. I'm yet to work out why, but I suppose it's possible that some southern Europeans inherited minor amounts of these components.

Gulf Arabs are rich in Natufian like admixture.Levantines are more Levant PPNB admixed.South Europeans in general have Levant BA/IA input. So,the answer is no.South Europeans do not seem to have anything related to Gulf Arabs.

This is really cool! You’re father and mine seem to have similar ancestry and my father gets Saudi as well.

Thank you! How would I go about with uniparentals? Also good to see another Floridian here!

I don't see any strong indication of Peninsular Arab in your result or the result of the vast majority of Southern Europeans. Even areas known for having Arab related admixture (such as Malta) predominately have extra North African related admixture, not Peninsular Arab.

A simple run using regional proxies:

    Target: Jacob12086_scaled
    Distance: 2.1725% / 0.02172522
    57.6 Northwest_Europe:French_Brittany
    26.6 Balkans:Albanian
    15.8 Eastern_Europeolish

So your G25 coords approximate best fits seem to be something like 60% Northwest European, 25% Balkan and 15% East European. This isn't necessarily what your ancestry actually is, but if you had a recent Peninsular Arab ancestor, it most likely would be reflected in the admixture run - it isn't.
