    K36 Similarity Map says it is representing 57% of my DNA after I took out 50%. Why?

    See how it says it concerns '57% of my ancestors'? And on the top right you can see the component I took out was 50%. Why is this the case?

    This is because the population you have chosen does not allow to remove 50% of your results.

    Clearly, the maximum you can have of the population you have chosen here is: 100-57 = 43%.

    In theory of course.
    Because your ancestor, even if he is from this population, necessarily has values that are slightly different from the average of the chosen population.
    And that automatically increases the rate for the remaining parent for the map.
