What is the population reference for "West Asia" on GEDmatch calculators?

I've been wondering what "West Asia" exactly refers to in GEDmatch calculators. West Asia is a regions where a lot of ethnicities have lived. If we considers the current era, there are even people who are of European or African descent who have become West Asians. So, what is the population reference for "West Asia" on GEDmatch calculators?

That would depend on the Gedmatch calculator in question.

West Asian, East Med, North Atlantic and other components are ancient, they do not use any modern ethnicity for them

Saw once a thread when someone managed to get a proxy on each of the components. Even if ancient samples were used, some of the samples would correlate well with certain modern populations. Probably best idea is to ask the creator of the calculator who is active on this forum sometimes.

The GEDmatch admix tests were designed before any ancient DNA was available.

So of course the so called ancestral components are derived from modern populations.
