    Jewish DNA project

Hello, everyone! I wanted to let everyone know that I am gathering as many kits from Jewish individuals as possible to complete are large study about the various contribution to Jewish genetics. My particular focus is to look at the deep ancestry of Western Jews.

What I am hoping to achieve here is the accumulation of as many kits of unrelated individuals as possible to get robust clusters. Unfortunately, the public data available on Jewish individuals is quite poor. For instance, the French and Italian Jewish individuals are very low coverage and this will keep them from being included. If I could get some Italkim and Rhenish Jews, and even Romaniotes, this would really help me out here to see where Ashkenazi Jews differ. I would prefer that the files be 23andme and before v5, as that is build 38 and not compatible with what we have for public datasets. AncestryDNA kits are okay as well.

I would also prefer individuals that are fully Jewish, and with four grandparents from the same country or region. This will help with robustness, but not completely necessary if I get enough individuals to fill certain clusters (ie Litvak, etc...).

Anyone that is interested, please let me know. If you are interested, you can send your kits to my email, [email protected]. I am hoping that this project is able to shed some light on the input to the Jewish community after leaving Israel. I will begin this project as soon as my schedule and the number of kits permits. Thank you and I hope that everyone joins in!

Also, just to clarify, this analysis will be done with Admixtools. This includes, dstats, f3, qpAdm, qpGraph, etc. I will do a deeper analysis of Jewish populations than has been done to date.

Go ahead and send them. It's really the v5, 23andme that causes issues as build 38.

this is great, could you also tell something about the privacy of the samples, non-transfer to third parties etc. especially in conformance with EU regulations?

I'm not going to sell anyone's data, man. I've been doing this for 8 years.

I'm finishing up pulling genomes tonight. I'll start analysis tomorrow.

I feel like my population sets are good. I've run about 2,500 Dstats to get an idea for my graph. I'll share the Dstats and how I'm going to graph this after work today.

Sorry, for any delays. David was kind enough to share a lot of stuff to help this along.
