So perhaps there is hope for some users after all.......though when it will see the light of day is anyone's guess......

Maybe that's why there's the delay in rolling out your matches ethnicity breakdowns?

Not really, appropriate here, but has anyone heard anything on the Reich Lab Iron age results/paper?
Fair play that. I tend to work more with matches on Ancestry and 23 and Me. The usual suspects in my family have tested on these sites. Some show up on MyHeritage. I find LDNA cumbersome to use. Aren’t we all still waiting for their chromosome browser?

I haven’t heard anything more about the Reich lab study. Waiting for that too.

Edit: I just double checked and I do have two matches from my mother’s side who have also tested on other sites. One match I know for certain I share a 2x great grandfather with. Mea Culpa.

They don’t send updates out on the weekend. Be patient I emailed them about them not being able to identify my English born grandmother from East anglia and they said they were looking into it. The new reference panels they added were from individuals that had the same ancestry on both sides of the family. A bs answer.

Overall it looks like an improvement. They are finally able to distinguish continental and insular ancestry and also to pinpoint Germanic ancestry on the continent more exactly.

My fathers' results (ancestry nearly fully from originally South Jutish speaking Angeln, Schleswig-Holstein):
    LDNA1.jpg

    previous results:
    Europe (North and West) 78.5%
    Northwest Germanic 52.2%
    Scandinavia 9.6%
    South Germanic 9.2%
    Northeast Germanic 7.4%
    Great Britain and Ireland 21.5%

    Now to my mother's results.
Her ancestry is 75% from Schleswig-Holstein (Schwansen, Fraezlet, Probstei) and 25% Farther Pomerania (county Dramburg, originally Neumark).
Hence the correct answer'd be 75% "NW Germanic" and 25% "NE Germanic" unless you go for deeper ancestry: From other DNA results I gather that the typical composition for the Pomeranian region in question is pretty evenly 50% (Lechitic) Slavic, 50% Germanic, which theoretically gives 1/8th Slavic.

    The results:
    LDNA2.jpg

The result before that just grouped everything into NW Germany (68.4%) and Great Britain and Ireland (31.6%), but the more enlightening original results were:
    Europe 100%
    Europe (North and West) 80.8%
    Germanic 59%
    Scandinavia 21.8%
    Great Britain and Ireland 9.1%
    England and Wales 9.1%
    Europe (East) 8.9%
    Baltics 8.9%
    Europe (South) 1.2%
    Tuscany 1.2%

So the Slavic ancestry turned up originally in the Baltic category with 8.9% and is now represented by Baltics + Pannonia + West Russia with 8.5%. Some may also hide in "Eastern Germanic", but if they don't want to go for more recent drift and sample the old German East the best representation probably would be Polish. The NW German component looks quite correct though.

What annoys me the most is that LDNA seems to be even less reliable with its matching algorithm. The matches I could compare with on other sites were largely false positives. That's worse than it is at My Heritage, which means something. I just made an upload though, in case it matters. But even so, they shouldn't offer it if they can't deliver, since I had to pay for it.
They must because I have my original estimate from when I uploaded January 2020, then new results from May 2020 with that update. I erroneously posted March 2021 several posts back but it was May 2020, so several months after I first uploaded my Ancestry raw data.

So iím glad you posted this.
I have several matches at Living DNA that I also have at My Heritage and Ancestry, but I also have several matches in Australia, Wales, Ireland, and England which I am not sure how accurate they are.

Well when your results do get updated i am looking forward to them!
Flags represent known or paper trail ancestry from greatest to least:
England, Scotland, Austro-Hungarian Empire, (Galicia Poland) French-Canadian, and Dutch American settlers.

My update arrived! Results are ok but not an improvement since now the French is too high and Great Britain/Ireland too low. The Arabian percentage still has me curious. I also hope LivingDNA will expand sub categories in the future.
