Like AncestryDNA in what way? As others in the thread have said, it works differently to genetic communities and seems to be mainly based on the locations of matches. I get 10 regions in the UK despite having no connection to the UK. I wouldn't really consider listing 10 regions from Ireland and the UK as being very accurate since I only have ancestors from 3/20 regions. There are 165 administrative regions in the UK and there are borders in Northern Ireland so I'd be surprised if the Northern Ireland counties aren't included.

Edit: I see a post on Reddit saying that the top regions in Ireland/UK are County Donegal and Derry for their grandmother. It looks like Northern Ireland is covered.

Does this map correspond with your ancestry?

They break down the counties in the Republic so I'm pretty sure the do the same for up north. (Zoomed in map attached.)Eire.png

Thank you for the map! That would match up quite well with my ancestry as a heatmap since the warmest area is in the west of Ireland. My known ancestors were all from around the Roscommon (northwest), Galway (northeast) and Mayo (east) border area so my ancestors would probably fall between the overlapping area of Irish_Southwest and Irish_Central.

I know for a fact that many of these areas have seen a large amount of Irish migration! Liverpool and Manchester always seem to get mentioned in articles about Irish in Britain.

West Yorkshire is probably related to Bradford.

London and County Mayo look very strongly blue.

My maps. I've included one showing my known ancestors back to my 6x great grandparents and which modern counties they came from.

    Screenshot 2021-09-21 00.17.22.png

The UK one looks like it's mostly showing my NW English ancestry.

My Ireland map seems to show a lot of counties I don't have known ancestry from, although an ancestor was born in County Donegal but with no known roots in that area (his father was a British soldier and his mother is unknown).

It appears the above 23andMe maps that have the strongest showings in Connacht and Munster also have stuff going on in North West England.
