Place to post newly ordered SNPs

Thought it might be good to have a central location to make the community aware of newly available SNPs for U152.

Primers for these 2 SNPs below R1b>U152>L2>Z49 are designed and available at YSEQ.net.

    S8183: Located below Z49* http://shop.yseq.net/advanced_search...tion=1&x=5&y=9

    CTS9490: Located below Z142>Z150/Z12222 http://shop.yseq.net/advanced_search...8df294&x=0&y=0

PS looking at the "what's new" section at YSEQ.net, Business is booming...109 new SNPs in the last 4 days!

I should note the SNPs I am ordering from YSEQ are for another type of study I am doing and really are not currently identified of any great value to U152 phylogeny, though if I ever do have a match downstream from R-L2 some might be also worth testing, if recommended by Rich R or Steve G.

S8183 is now available from YSeq. I am one of a group of men with a common surname who are Z49+, Z142- and DYS388=11. I've ordered S8183 and am hoping that will help us to refine our clan history.

One interesting result from my study of my own private SNPs using YSEQ Sanger sequencing was to check a couple of FGC BGI Private SNPs that were "**" or "about 40% likely genuine" that a YFull analysis of the same BAM file noted under their criteria.

One in the YFull Analysis had had three unambiguous positive reads and classified by YFull as "acceptable" and the other has two unambiguous positive reads and was classified as "unreliable."

Both were found to be positive by YSEQ Sanger sequencing.

Too small a sample to draw conclusions and is surely consistent with FGC's 40% reliability rating. I don't know if using YFull's criteria helps select which ** Private SNPs might be useful before any real use is found by matching another sample.

[Also, just to note the positive SNP in Sanger Sequencing that FGC ranked as ** and YFull classified as unreliable was in my FTDNA BigY BAM file, though had been excluded by the BED file. NGC Analysis of the BigY BAM file found it but classified it as ***. I did not get a YFull Analysis of my FTDNA BigY BAM file.]

I have started another study on my Private SNPs by arranging for FGC BGI sequencing of a distant Eaton cousin validated by 67 STR testing and fairly good paper trail back to common Eaton ancestor in the 1500's just a little short of the new ISOGG tree 500 year criteria. Paper trail is also supported by STR testing of multiple descendants of the two Eaton 1st cousin immigrants to New England in 1600s which separate our two lines though currently cannot differentiate the two.

Comparison of any matching ** and *** now "Family" SNPs should be revealing. I think I remember hearing about an earlier study like this but have not heard anything about it, recently.

Just received positive result for S8183 (FTDNA 240232; Anglo-Norman (Flemish?)-Irish ancestry. Placed Wish a SNP orders with YSeq for S12993, S8172, S20782.

S19861 is also available at YSEQ. I am positive for this SNP in Big-Y, so it could be of importance for U152. BritainsDNA couldn't provide me with more information about it and suggested I contact FTDNA about it. Unfortunately the person who submitted this SNP at YSEQ didn't provide more information.

I returned my swabs to YSEQ today for my S20550 test. I hope I am S20550+ or something is very wrong
