Hungarians as East + West do not work by G25. 100% West/0% East with 2.6% distance.

They quite surprisingly additionally took a quarter of Baltic looking POH28 (Z92, perhaps Prussian) sample. And got distance of 1%.

    Edit:
If we remove West_Eurasian_Magyars, then there is a room for some East_Magyars.

For modern Hungarians you need to add German as well.

Poh28's subclade looks like it split from the Baltic ones 3000 ybp, and spread with the early west Slavs.

his autosomal profile could also be what the ancestors of Slavs looked like at one point.

The modern Hungarians surely have never more than 1 % East Asian on average. Romanians have more and they don't exceed that number as well - only on an individual level. And Hungarians most definitely have less.

Don't know how to properly test that, but POH28and CSB9 (Baltic sample from Early Avars) seem to have some connection in opposite to Bailuliai/Marvele. Which I wildly speculate show some old difference between Z92 and CTS1211. One of that is G25 loves LTU_BA for POH13, POH28, Baltic Avar sample more than LVA_BA, which is usually loved for Balts and Slavs.

    edit: or maybe not..

maybe that's a west Baltic-Slavic conection, which east Balts lack?

    LTU_BA are early west Balts.
CSB9, POH13, POH28 are very likely just Slavs, despite their increased WHG, or maybe in fact, examples of very pure/unmixed Slavs.

What if you model both moderns with Anapa-MA as one of sources?

It turns out something like this:

    Adygei
    Distance: 2.9186% / 0.02918615 | R5P
    60.6 RUS_Alan_MA
    36.0 Anapa_MA_950AD
    3.4 Ostrogothic_Crimea_ACD

    Kabardin
    Distance: 2.0454% / 0.02045410 | R5P
    51.2 RUS_Alan_MA
    35.4 Anapa_MA_950AD
    8.4 Ostrogothic_Crimea_ACD
    3.0 KAZ_Karluk
    2.0 KGZ_Nomad_MA

Not very good models in my opinion. In particular, for the Adygeis.

Anapa_MA come from a burial ground, which differs markedly from other burial grounds in the Caucasus in terms of archaeological finds. Therefore, I think, for the best modeling of the Circassians, we need samples from other medieval cemeteries that are typical of the Western Caucasus.
